Agile Development and Remote Teams: Learning to Love the Phon
نویسنده
چکیده
I currently work on a project where we adopted an agile process that integrates elements of extreme programming and agile modeling. Our approach is unconventional however; instead of the team being colocated, I work remotely as the lead developer. The risk of increased communication costs can be mitigated rather easily. However, trust is the most complicated element of team dynamics to establish and maintain. A virtual team must address this issue in order to succeed. Remote teams can work quite well. We have been delivering quality software in a timely manner, within the expectations of management for the last two years. We actually are more efficient and successful with a virtual team than when we were all co-located in the same room.

Remote Working and Collaboration in Agile Teams
Agile software development relies heavily on tight and continuous collaboration, which becomes a challenge when team members work at a distance. Despite significant focus on distributed Agile working, remote working, when only one or two individuals are not co-located with the rest of the team, remains largely unexplored. We focus on one organisation with several such teams and investigate one ...
متن کاملDeveloping Intellectual Capital within Agile IT Teams: a literature Review
Since the Agile Manifesto was presented in 2001, more and more organizations move from traditional, plan-driven software development to agile approaches. This movement is motivated by the fact that environments are changing quickly and new requirements need fast implementation. We conducted a structured literature review to identify the current state of knowledge about agile IT teams and how th...
متن کاملIntegrated Process Support and Lightweight Knowledge Sharing for Agile Software Organizations
Distributed development is sometimes inevitable and must be dealt with when agile methods become more commonly used. The increased complexities in communication, collaboration, and coordination associated with distributed development coupled with the lack of support for organizational learning in agile practices present challenges to tool developers for agile teams. This paper describes a suite...
متن کاملAgile Development of a Custom-Made Vocabulary Mobile Application: A Critical Qualitative Approach
There have been some observed studies and developed applications (apps), with a concentration on Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL), and no consideration of communicative needs of the learners; besides, these studies focused on either the theoretical aspects or the utilization of the available apps in the market (Burston & Athanasiou, 2020). Hence, Vocabulary Guru (VG), a custom-made mobi...
متن کاملBalancing Self-Organizing Agile Teams: A Grounded Theory
Self-organizing teams are one of the critical success factors on Agile projects but unfortunately little is known about the self-organizing nature of Agile teams and the challenges they face in industrial practice. Based on a Grounded Theory study of 40 Agile practitioners across 16 software development organizations in New Zealand and India, we describe how self-organizing Agile teams perform ...
